VERSION 2.0
Over the last several months, the WDWNT Tech Team has been diligently working on an update to WDWNT: The App. Today, we are proud to announce that WDWNT: The App 2.0 has been published to the Apple App Store and Google Play. It has been months… no, years in the making! We redesigned the app from the ground up, to make it more stable, faster, and easier to use.
Before we get to the new features, I’d like to take a moment to thank the WIGS for their help in debugging the new app. Back in July, we allowed the WIGS early access to the new app and they have been using it ever since, posting bug reports and feature requests to the WIGSCord (WIGS exclusive Discord channel). New Features
News Filters
You can now filter articles based on category. At the top of the main news page, there is a new list of categories. The list scrolls off to the right of the page to reveal all the categories.
- Latest News shows all news articles sorted by date
- Walt Disney World shows Walt Disney World news including news about attraction updates, merchandise and restaurants
- Disneyland shows Disneyland news
- Other Parks shows articles from Disney parks around the world
- Other News shows non-park related news like films, Disney+, and shopDisney merchandise
- Universal Parks shows all news related to Universal Parks around the world
Notifications
You now have better control over your notifications. We added 11 new categories to allow you to choose exactly which new article notifications you receive. To get to the the Settings section, tap “More” and then “Settings”. The Settings Page also allows you to change the size of the article text.
Search
We dedicated an entire tab to allow you to search all of our articles. The Search tab is to the left of the News circle in the bottom tab bar. (As a side note, the Search screenshot shows articles with a green check mark. That marks means that you read that article.)
Podcasts
The Podcasts section was completely redesigned. Each podcast now has its own tile to make easier to navigate all the great WDWNT Podcasts. Tap the “More” tab and then tap “Podcasts”.
